Kim Ablon Whitney
grew up in Newton, MA, and now lives in Cambridge, MA with her husband
and Brisby, her greyhound. She received her B.A. from Tufts University
and her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Emerson College. She writes
fiction for both adult and young adult readers. Her first young adult
novel, See You Down The Road, (Knopf ’04) is the story
of a young woman growing up in the itinerant culture of the Irish Travelers.
Kim won the 2001 Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators
Judy Blume Work-in-Progress Grant for a Contemporary Young
Adult Novel and the 2002 PEN New England Children’s Book Caucus
Discovery Award. Kim currently teaches freshman writing at Emerson
College in Boston and works as a freelance writer for numerous national
equestrian magazines. Her second young adult novel, To Win the Finals,
will be published by Knopf Books for Young Readers in fall ‘2005.
