Marie Harris is a poet whose books include Raw Honey (Alice James Books); Weasel in the Turkey Pen (Hanging Loose Press); and Your Sun, Manny: A Prose Poem Memoir (White Pine Press). She has co-edited several anthologies, one of which An Ear to the Ground, was named an American Library Association Notable Book in 1989. Her awards include a NH State Council on the Arts fellowship, an NEA fellowship, and she was named NH Poet Laureate from 1999-2004 from which post she co-produced the first national gathering of state poets laureate.

Marie lives in a hand-built house the woods of New Hampshire with her photographer husband, Charter Weeks. Together they run a business-to-business communications company. In addition to writing technical copy, Marie has published travel articles in the New York Times, Boston Globe, Corvette Fever, American Cemetery and Montana Magazine, among others. And one of her favorite jobs is doing voiceovers.

Although Marie has worked as writer-in-residence in schools throughout New England, it was while serving as poet laureate that she was first prompted to try writing for children. G is for Granite (Sleeping Bear Press) and Primary Numbers (Sleeping Bear Press) were the happy result.
